As an ambitious strategy consultancy, we attach great importance to a healthy long-term growth course. Therefore, we are looking for excellent consultants who want to work with us to meet the challenges of our customers and who share our competence and passion for the consulting business.
I specifically chose a company where teamwork and cohesion, as well as individual training, are very important and where employee turnover is very low compared to the industry. Having spent several years abroad, studying for my Masters in Spain, Taiwan and the USA, working in an international environment was also an important factor in my decision. Again, VP exceeded my expectations as I was able to work with clients from France and India in my first year.
Starting at VP in January 2023 meant moving from Rhineland-Palatinate and starting all over again in Munich. Especially in professional life, it is much more difficult to build up a social environment or circle of friends than it was during my studies. However, I didn't find this difficult at VP because I was immediately “taken in” by my colleagues outside of working hours and was therefore able to settle into the new city very quickly. I feel very comfortable and am still very happy that I chose VP Strategy Advisors.
With my degree in English Studies, I am rather the “exotic” one at VP and many people ask me how I got into management consulting. It's quite simple: I like the challenging environment of strategy consulting that I got to know through various internships. When I was looking for a suitable consultancy, a generalist training, flat hierarchies and uncomplicated processes were important to me. I found all of this at VP.
Even before my first day at work, I was invited to a team event where I was warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. When my project started and I had methodological questions, everyone was very helpful. The project itself, an IT carve-out, was a completely new topic for me, but thanks to the support of the team, I was able to familiarize myself well. After two months, I was even allowed to present my reporting to the customer in a high-level meeting every week. Being able to take on so much responsibility straight away as a newcomer is really not something to be taken for granted.
Since moving from Mannheim, I feel very much at home in Munich. Not only because of VP, but also because Munich is a very liveable city with a unique culture. I also appreciate the variety of restaurants where I can always try something new.
During my job search, I became aware of the hidden champion VP Strategy Advisors, where I was not only offered an exciting, but also a very personal and human working environment during the interview.
After more than 2 years, I can say that I was not wrong. At VP, you can tell that customers and employees come first. The teams are incredibly fun and the varied challenges allow you to grow every day. At VP, you work very closely with the client and experienced partners from the very beginning. This is not only fun, but also leads to a very steep learning curve right from the start. Overall, the hierarchies in the teams and in the company are very flat, which makes it much easier to contribute and implement ideas/suggestions.
Depending on the project, there is always an optimal balance between home office, VP office and on-site at the customer. Despite the more demanding work schedule, I still manage to fit in my personal plans during the week. On weekends you can usually find me in the mountains or with friends in Munich.
After gaining various experiences in industry and consulting while studying industrial engineering, I decided to enter the world of management consulting in 2020. Right from the start, I couldn't really identify myself with the stereotypical corporate culture of “established strategy firms”, but I still wanted to work on the exciting issues of strategy consulting. That's why I chose VP, because VP offers the rare combination of top-level strategic issues and the down-to-earth culture of a small consulting firm.
Since then, I have been involved in various projects in the automotive, engineering and industrial wholesale sectors. As part of the recruiting team, I am also responsible for the selection and recruitment of new VPs. In my free time I spend a lot of time hiking or skiing in the mountains. Although I originally couldn't imagine moving to Munich, I immediately liked the proximity to the mountains.
